After doing an interview with my idols, Neo Muyanga and Masauko Chipembere from Blk Sonshine, on their new offering,
Good Life for the National Tonight,
life was indeed good. A dream was accomplished, heaven was a step away.
We said our goodbyes, no longer strangers and parted ways out of Melville.
Driving a company car, I noticed the boot wasn't closed. Hardly a kilometre from the N1 highway, i stopped to inspect the rattling and irritating noise. With the engine running and the key in the ignition I got out to close the boot. As I got out, I closed the door and only realized later that the faulty door had locked me outside. So there i was locked outside my car (engine running) with the traffic passing me by. I have done this too, looked at someone stranded on the road and just drove on by.
An elderly man, a pedestrian, was the first to offer some help. The car window was open but not enough for me to stick my arm in and unlock the car. We got a hanger from the security man from KPMG close by, with the aim to stick it inside the car and unhook the door knob. We were not winning. Another guy who looked like a scholar joined us. The old man had to leave. I managed to stop a similar looking white Toyota Tazz. Unfortunitely the man's keys did not match mine and he had to go. A truck stopped and left. The scholar guy was very encouraging and kept on sayin - " Unga Wari. Don't worry sisi, it will open."
We were goin for an hour when a dirty looking hawker and his younger sidekick offered to help. The hawker was confindent. From what the youngster mumbled, he had helped another fellow before, and that fellow's car had a central locking system.
Within 10min he opened my door. Relief. Jubilation. Relief. With that I gave the hawker and the sidekick R15, a heartfelt thank you and I went on my way.
I made it just in time to beat the friday joburg -pretoria traffic.
What a day, what a day!!!!!!!!!! What a difference an instant makes!!!!!!! Life may be filled with bad things, but that day I received a fulfilling dose of Ubutu (humanity). That's a good life.
